The rock sliders come in either 3/8" or 1/2" thick UHMW plastic for the level of protection you want and need. The nerf bars avoid reducing your ground clearance by staying flush with the body of your RZR and won't have any hanging hardware that's liable to get caught on debris. If you don't plan on running the rock sliders with full coverage skid plates there's no need to worry; countersink hardware can be purchased at an additional cost to prevent the hardware from sticking out.
