The Trail Armor Full Skids are a great accessory to add to your Honda Pioneer 1000-5. Whether you're taking it on rough trails, into unknown territory, through rocks or even just around the farm, adding protection to your machine is extremely important. These full belly skids will give you the additional protection to hopefully keep you from experiencing costly damage.
These skids are made from 1/2" thick UHMW (Ultra High Molecular Weight plastic), which is lighter and stronger than traditional aluminum skids. These skids can absorb impact without denting, gouging or galling. The skids feature formed front leading edges to help prevent hangup and the recessed mounting holes protect the hardware from becoming damaged. I have to say I'm very happy with these skid plates. Installation was easy and the fit was excellent. They are a huge improvement over the stock ones. I've used aluminum skids on past machines. Never again! UHMW is the way to go.

I bought the Trail Armor Skids for my 2016 Honda Pioneer 1000-5 and it was a great investment. This past weekend (January 31st) I took the Pioneer out to Choccolloco ORV Park in Alabama. I was climbing up mountain sides with large rocks and descending down the mountainside over these large rocks. There were several times the Pioneer bottomed out and hit some of the rocks. It was a hard thud and scuffed up the Trail Armor. If I had not had these on the machine I am sure it would have dented or possibly bent the undercarriage. One of the trails on the descent I came to a point where I could not back up so going forward was the only way down. The trial had a large crown halfway down the mountain that my tires could not touch most of the time. I was basically sliding down the trial on the Pioneer's belly. if it had not been for the Trail Armor Skids I might have gotten stuck or damaged the undercarriage. Ended up with some scuffs and some small gouges in the Trail Armor Skids but nothing to hardly note. It paid for itself this weekend and was a worthwhile investment in protecting my machine.

I am very happy with the design, durability, and ease of install on the 1/2" UHMW skid plates. The hard ware supplied made it a breeze with the 32 self tapping bolts. Fit and finish was first rate everything matched up perfect with the OEM holes and all 32 new ones that had to be made using the self tapping screws were spot on in the middle of the tubing. The main plate comes out about 3/8" outside the outside tubes running between the front and rear wheels these tubes normally take a lot of damage and this skid plate will completely protect them from that by its design. If I could change anything I wish the front piece extended up another 6-8 inches to just below the OEM fairlead hole further protecting the bash plate. Overall very happy and would definitely buy again. SidebySideStuff.com was great to deal with and delivery was fast.
